Where to See Snow in Manali (and When)

Chasing snow in Manali? Here are the most reliable spots — Solang, Atal Tunnel, Sissu and Rohtang — and the months that actually deliver.

Where to See Snow in Manali (and When)

“Will we get snow?” is the question we’re asked most. The honest answer: it depends on where you go and when. Here’s the reliable list.

Solang Valley

Just 14 km from Manali, Solang is the easiest snow spot and the winter skiing hub. Best snow: December to February.

Atal Tunnel & Sissu

The Atal Tunnel stays open year-round and drops you into snowy Lahaul at Sissu — often the most dependable snow experience of all. Great December to March.

Rohtang Pass

The classic high pass at 3,978m. It’s seasonal (roughly May–November), permit-controlled and closed on Tuesdays — so it’s more about scenery and patchy snow than a guaranteed winter snowfield.

Manali town

Manali itself gets occasional snowfall in peak winter, but don’t count on it — always plan a Solang or Sissu day for guaranteed snow.
